Almost Ready

We got to tour our new school digs today (I went on the tour even though I didn't actually go to school today). Swank isn't even in it. This place is head and shoulders above just about every other salon in town (we've already been told by a State Board official that it is far and away the nicest school in the state). It doesn't look like a school, it looks like an upscale salon. And it's not even finished yet (if you look back in November, you'll see a post from when we first toured the school and you can see how much work has been done). But it shouldn't be too much longer now. Mirrors are the biggest obstacle left. Based on what we saw today, it will prolly be open by the second week in March, definately by the end of March.

The new digs should be a boon to business. I can envision a lot of people making appointments just to come see the place. And hopefully some of them will become regulars. I'll have more pics when we're officially open.

It'd be cool if it weren't kinda gross

I've been home for the last two days. Why? 'Cause of the pink eye you see staring you down in the picture above. I've never had pink eye before and was kind of shocked that I got it (I'm not real big on touching my eyes...putting in contacts for the first few times was murder). Still, it'd be kind of cool to be walking around with one red eye all the time. At the very least it I could use it to frighten small children and annoying people.

Prolly not a good source of fiber

Emma is prone to pick up things and put them in her mouth from time to time. Yesterday morning I noticed she had something in her mouth, something rather large. When I went to investigate, she spit out the spare change you see before you. Not quite the goose that laid the golden egg but if she can conjure up some folding bills next time around, I'll be able to retire by the time she graduates high school.

hmmm...chocolate

A messy baby is a happy baby...and a messy baby that just ate chocolate is estatic.

We don't need no stinkin' expensive toys

My children have dozens of toys, if not hundreds. They range from simple blocks to electronic marvels of microcircuitry and animation. Yet even with all this, they spent the better part of the afternoon amusing themselves with the laundry basket.

Happy Anniversary(s)

Today marks one year since I've started the blog. One whole year! It's hard to imagine that I've been doing this for one year. The next year should be just as exciting with my imminent graduation from Cosmo School. Stay tuned!

In other anniversary news (or maybe this one should have come first), Heather and I have been married for 3 years as of the 4th (yes, I know that was nine days ago. I don't have a chance to blog as much as I used to). 3 years! That's the longest relationship I've had, ever. It even beats out some of my favorite underwear. It's been a rather interesting 3 years and I'm sure the next however many will be just as interesting. Stay tuned!

Valentine's at School

We're exchanging valentine's at school (in a strictly platonic way). We all decorated some paper bags so that everyone can come and deposit valentines throughout the week. Everyone else went with hearts and flowers and such. I figured I would take a more non-traditional route. So, after combing through some of my back issues of Wizards (and cut them up) I created the bag you see above. Upon it's completion, Jill, who sits next to me, made the comment that my bag "is soooo you". Heh. If she only knew.

Fun with Coco

Its becoming an annual tradition to watch the Super Bowl at Heather's parents. Notable offerings in the past have included Emery's first taste of chocolate (imagine a manic depressive mainlining caffiene to get a good idea of what he was like) and my relentless ribbing of Tim during the Colts-Bears game (he's a huge Chicago Bears fan and they lost big time). This year, Emma and Coco (Heather's sister Courtney) had some fun making noises with their hands. They would slap their hands over their mouth as they made monotone sounds (it's like a "wha-wha" sound) They did that for about 30 minutes and laughed the whole time.

My Brother's Birthday

My brother had a birthday a few days ago. He turned 22. I'm sure for him it was another birthday, but seeing as how I'm his older brother, it made me feel, well, old. I mean, I can remember babysitting him and changing his diaper (of course, I do these things now with my own children but it's a bit different). I feel like it's only a few weeks away from checking the mail and getting my membership papers for AARP.

This is Lance with his loot. Movies and CD's are his preferred presents.

The kids enjoyed playing outside at Nana's. Emery leg's are almost long enough to use the tricycle (he can go forward very well but the reverse gear is in fine working order).
